Dear WACE Colleague,

Greetings from the WACE Secretariat!

We have just returned home from a successful International Conference on Work Integrated Learning in Hong Kong and are looking forward to our next upcoming events! The International Symposium on Work Integrated Learning, which will be held in Graz, Austria this June 23-25, 2010, offers a unique learning environment and something new for WACE, the “Academic Salon.”

Just a few weeks after our intimate International Symposium in Graz (only 125 delegates accepted!), WACE will be heading to the island of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, U.S. for the Institute on Global and Experiential Education, a unique program designed for University teams of three to eight people. The Institute dates are July 12-16, 2010.

And finally, our next World Conference on Cooperative Education and Work Integrated Learning will be held June 14-17, 2011 on the campus of Drexel University, our host University, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.

For more information on our past International Conference and our upcoming programs, please read on!

Beyond our upcoming programs, WACE also has new Partner Universities (links to their websites below), a new edition of
Premier Work Integrated Learning Programs, and more.

Thanks for reading!

Eighth International Symposium on Work Integrated Learning
“Best and Next Practices: Bridging the Gap between Higher Education and Employers through Work Integrated Learning, Cooperative & Experiential Education”

In Conjunction with FH JOANNEUM University of Applied Sciences
June 23-25, 2010
Graz, Austria

Registration is limited to 125 delegates.
We encourage ALL Delegates to submit a one page paper.

This International Symposium fosters a unique learning environment.  Rather than offering the traditional type of concurrent sessions, such as paper presentations, panels, and workshops, we are pleased to offer the ACADEMIC SALON, which is a “new” form of interaction based on the premise that we all have something to learn as well as share.  The Academic Salon focuses less on formal presentation and more on DISCUSSION.  The Academic Salon will have succeeded when all participants have a clear idea how to implement “Best and Next Practices.”

Further information on the ACADEMIC SALON & the One Page Paper Information and Online Submission Form, as well as the Registration Form, Hotel Information & More are Available on the event page of the WACE website: http://waceinc.org/graz/index

We are looking forward to sharing this unique experience with you in Graz!

June 14-17, 2011

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States

The International Conference on Work Integrated Learning in Hong Kong,
“University-Industry Collaboration for Real Life Education,”

brought together 248 delegates from 22 countries for our February 3-5 international event.

Occurring on the campus of PolyU, delegates were immersed in the student culture and welcomed by our outstanding student assistants.

With 75 parallel sessions and six plenary sessions, there were many options from which the delegates could choose.

The delegates were also treated to a fabulous cultural show, hosted and performed by PolyU students, who featured their karate, musical, and dancing skills (just to name a few!).

Many delegates also attended Thursday evening’s Bauhinia Harbour Dinner Cruise, which featured breathtaking views of Hong Kong’s infamous harbor.

The WACE Secretariat would again like to thank Professor Suleyman Demokan for his generous support and for offering his amazing staff to us.

For Professor Demokan’s Keynote Speech, all delivered refereed papers, and more, please visit the
WACE website and see the Hong Kong Conference Quick Links.
