JOIN US FOR A DISTINCTIVE EVENT AT AN EXTRAORDINARY LOCATION
 
We invite you to send a team to the Global Institute on Experiential Education in picturesque Cape Ann, Massachusetts to develop strategies that strengthen your campus’s efforts to promote learning outside and inside the traditional classroom and around the world through a range of activities, including cooperative education, service-learning, faculty/undergraduate research, community-based research, academic internships, student leadership development, international experiences, and other related programs. The importance of global and experiential education is more significant than ever for our students entering the global workforce today, as students who participate in these programs will develop and practice analytical skills that they can apply to concrete, real-world situations; transform information into knowledge and knowledge into judgment and action; and develop self-awareness about the reason for study, the learning process behind it, and how education is used.
 
PARTICIPANTS
 
Participants may include academic officers, faculty members, and other professionals in global and experiential education. They may be involved at any stage, from planning new programs to innovative and strategic advancement of ongoing programs.

Participants from any two- or four-year institution are encouraged to apply.
 
TEAMS
 
Participation in the Institute as a team provides the opportunity to develop a plan that builds on multiple perspectives and galvanizes a shared vision for implementation.

The Institute is designed for teams of three to eight people.
 
DEVELOPING YOUR EDUCATIONAL PLAN
 
The Institute is designed for teams to develop a strategic plan that strengthens their efforts in advancing student success through a range of specially tailored global and experiential education programs. Our work with your team begins with pre-Institute consultations and includes intensive work with your team during the Institute and follow-up consultations after the Institute.
 
Plan Development includes:
 
  • A curriculum of plenary sessions and group discussions shaped through pre-Institute consultations to address your specific goals and challenges

  • Institute Team Facilitator(s) to work exclusively with your team in developing your plan and implementation strategies

  • Interaction with other teams, Institute Faculty, and dedicated Team Facilitator(s) to discuss best practices and research at your institution, and to discuss and evaluate your plan as it evolves during the Institute

  • Consultations with Institute Faculty to address specific challenges in global and experiential education at your institution

  • Final presentation of your plan followed by discussion and feedback from all Institute participants
