Monday, July 9, 2012: Arrival, Orientation & Getting Acquainted

  • Settle into the Essex Conference Center & Retreat during the afternoon
  • Orientation sessions with Faculty, Facilitators, and Participants
  • Initial Presentations by each University Team
  • Evening reception & cookout (and use of the fire-pit, weather permitting)

Tuesday, July 10, 2012: Building Awareness & Building your Plan

  • Plenary presentations and interactive discussions on global and experiential education topics
  • Initial team discussions of issues in your institutional plan
  • Concentrated time to work on initial stages of your plan and implementation strategies for your institution

Wednesday, July 11, 2012: Inquiry, Reflection & Planning

  • Plenary presentations and interactive discussions on issues around global and experiential education
  • Workshops on select Institute Topics
  • Research/Best Practices related to issues of importance to the participating institutions
  • Concentrated time to work with your Institute Facilitator(s) on your plan
  • Consultations with Institute Faculty to address specifi c challenges in experiential education at your institution
  • Socializing, enjoying Cape Ann, and sharing your progress with others for their feedback

Thursday, July 12, 2012: Inquiry, Reflection & Planning Day 2 and Presentation Preparation

  • Plenary presentations and interactive discussions on issues around global and experiential education
  • Workshops on select Institute Topics
  • Concentrated time to work with your Institute Facilitator(s) on your plan
  • A traditional New England Lobsterbake

Friday, July 13, 2012: Presentation of Strategic Plans

  • Presentations of each team’s plan, followed by discussion and feedback
  • Awarding of Institute Certifi cates
  • Farewell lunch
