WACE International Conference on Work Integrated Learning Hong Kong 2010 Conference Programme

WACE’s International Conference on Work Integrated Learning will be held from February 3-5, 2010, with Host and Co-organizing University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The International Conference focus is “University-Industry Collaboration for Real Life Education” and will feature concurrent sessions, three Keynote Speakers, and three Plenary Panels: Educational Panel, Student Panel, and Industry Panel.

The concurrent sessions will feature Reviewed Papers, Refereed Papers, Poster Presentations, Panel Discussions, and Workshops on the following six conference themes:

Educational benefits of Work Integrated Learning (WIL)
Arranging the placements
Industry’s role
Assessing the placement / internship experience
The role of WIL as a curricular component, and
Marketing WIL to prospective/current students and to employers

Based on the conference focus and themes, it is WACE and Hong Kong PolyU’s goal to achieve communication between the educational and industrial sectors regarding WIL and to determine how we can continue to assess, improve, and continue this partnership – especially in the current economic climate. It is more important than ever that we strengthen the ties between the educational institutions and industry, and by bringing together experts, practitioners, and contributors from around the globe, we can find ways to keep WIL at the forefront of the global economy.
